Charlton U21s 1 Millwall U21s 2Millwall Under 21s coach Neil Harris was thrilled with his side's 'tremendous' display after they overcame neighbours Charlton Athletic in what he described as a 'proper game of football in very difficult conditions.'
He said: "We fully deserved the three points after playing some excellent football at times in spite of the strong wind. We were composed on the ball but also played with some fire and a real pride in the shirt.
"Charlton put out a strong, experienced side while we had three youth players in our ranks, two of whom scored the goals for us.
"We could have been 2-0 up before we scored the opening goal with Jamie Philpot hitting the bar and Alfie Pavey missing a penalty.
"It was Jamie who put us in front, though, from Kyron Farrell's corner, and then Farrell got the winner with a 20 yard strike in the second half after Charlton had scored a well worked equaliser just before the break.
"Overall, it was one of those games and performances which made it a real joy and a pleasure to work with this group of players."
