Bywater departs

14 January 2015

Goalkeeper Stephen leaves The Lions

Goalkeeper Stephen Bywater has become the fourth Millwall player to have his contract cancelled during the January transfer window, leaving him free to find another club.

The 33-year-old joined The Lions in the summer of 2013, becoming the first player signed by former boss Steve Lomas, and went on to make seven appearances in total for the club.

Stephen enjoyed a successful loan spell with Gillingham earlier this season, featuring 13 times for The Gills.

Bywater becomes the fifth departure in 2015 so far, following Josh Wright, Paul Robinson, Scott Malone and Jermaine Easter in search of pastures new. Paris Cowan-Hall, Shaun Cummings, Stefan Maierhofer and Dan Harding have come into the club in the last 11 days and manager Ollie is looking to further strengthen his squad this month.
