Millwall U13s reign supreme in six-team festival
Millwall's U13s reigned supreme in the Southend United U13s Festival at Boots & Laces, Southend United's training ground.
The young Lions one one of six teams competing in the tournament alongside Tottenham, West Ham, Ipswich, Leyton Orient and Southend - and finished top with 10 points.
Scott Fitzgerald, Academy Manager, said: "We started well and recorded wins against West Ham, Spurs and Ipswich, before losing to a late goal scored on the counter attack by Leyton Orient.
"With other results going our way in the penultimate game, it left the boys needing only a point from the final match against Southend which they achieved despite a late comeback from the hosts.
"As coaching staff we were delighted and proud watching the boys lift the trophy. Their performances on the pitch and their attitude off it were a credit to the football club.
"The whole experience was invaluable to their long-term development and shows our young Lions can compete with anyone."
