Millwall bring festive cheer during annual hospital visit

Lions stars raise spirits in Lewisham

Millwall players including Steve Morison, David Forde, Shaun Williams and Lee Gregory paid their annual pre-Christmas visit to the children's wards at Lewisham Hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

Mascots Zampa and Bolina, as well as Millwall Lionesses star Ciara Sherwood, were also in attendance as the players raised some festive spirits by handing out gifts including scarves, calendars, posters, programmes and soft toys to youngsters across various wards, including the children's A&E. The group posed for photos and signed autographs throughout, including during a trip into one of the elderly wards as well.

Millwall boss Neil Harris said: "While this time of year is one to rejoice and enjoy precious family time, some people are less fortunate and are stuck in hospital for various reasons.

"The annual visit is a chance for the players, both as a group and individually, to cheer up the patients, especially young children and their parents during what is a difficult time for them.

"The players were really eager to go from the moment the visit was arranged and that is an example of the spirit in this group and the type of characters we have at the club."
