Best of the action from Tuesday night

Millwall's hopes of moving into the League One Play-Off places were thwarted by Burton Albion as the Brewers edged a first ever meeting between the two teams by the odd goal in three at the Pirelli Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Lions were left reeling as, having dominated the opening 35 minutes, they fell behind to quickfire goals from Damien McCrory (35mins) and Nasser El Khayati (42mins).

The frustration on the Millwall bench was understandable in that both goals should have been avoided; the first came from a set-piece play and the second, a swift counter attack following a Millwall corner.

Neil Harris introduced Ben Thompson and Lee Gregory at the break and the duo certainly added some steel and bite to the team. Despite piling on the pressure it took until 75 minutes for Joe Martin to reduce the deficit with his first goal for The Lions.

Two minutes later Aiden O'Brien appeared to be fouled in the penalty, but play was waved on. That was a big call from the referee, as was his decision to dismiss Mark Beevers for a second bookable offence with Millwall really on the front foot and pressing for an equaliser.

It simply was not to be The Lions' night and the team headed back down the motorway with a sense of real frustration at what could - and should - have been a hard fought point or three from the high-flying Brewers.

The best of the night's action is captured here in our special photo gallery.
