Onyedinma and Williams find the net but Millwall are defeated at The Den
Millwall's pre-season campaign ended in defeat at The Den as Portuguese side CD Tondela ran out 3-2 winners following an entertaining clash in SE16.
Fred Onyedinma and Shaun Williams both netted first-half equalisers but Luis Machado scored the game's winning goal after 67 minutes.
Following an even start the match sprung into life when Tondela scored in unusual circumstances after seven minutes. Luis Tinoco, around 30 yards from goal, swung a free-kick into the box which evaded everyone and bounced past David Forde into the net at the far post.
Neil Harris' side equalised after an impressive move on 14 minutes. Lee Martin stole possession and led a quick counter attack before finding Onyedinma, who charged into the box and dinked the ball over Tondela keeper Matt Jones.
But The Lions were level for little more than a minute as the lively Wagner, playing up front in a fluid attacking system for the visitors, fired into the bottom corner from inside the area.
After a hectic nine-minute period the game finally began to settle down as both sides took turns to enjoy spells of possession.
Millwall spurned a good opportunity to draw level for a second time on the half-hour mark when Onyedinma fed Marquis, who couldn't quite get the ball out of his feet as he shaped to shoot inside the box.
That equaliser did arrive right on the stroke of half-time, however, as Martin's free-kick was met by Williams, whose header from six yards went in off the post.
But in the first meaningful action of the second-half, on 67 minutes, Tondela went in front once more as Luis Machado arrived at the back post and headed a deep cross home.
Williams almost netted his second of the afternoon moments later but saw his effort from inside the area edge just wide of the target as The Lions were unable to find a way back into the game.
