Lionesses' skipper Dionne Lennon is relishing Cup clash
Millwall Lionesses are relishing the prospect of causing an upset when they visit FA WSL 1 League leaders Chelsea Ladies in the Continental Tyres Cup on Wednesday night.
The tie, played at Staines Town's stadium, pitches together the two London rivals in what promises to be a cracking encounter.
Chelsea are looking to complete a domestic treble having already won the FA Cup Final, and with the likes of international stars Clare Rafferty, Fran Kirby and Katie Chapman in their ranks, know that they will be hot favourites to beat Millwall.
That 'underdog' tag, says Lionesses' skipper Dionne Lennon, will suit her team-mates who she believes are capable of recording a giant-killing.
Despite losing 5-0 at home to high-flying Doncaster Rovers Belles in the FA WSL 2 on Sunday, Lennon is adamant the Continental Tyres Cup tie holds no fear.
"All of the girls are looking forward to playing against Chelsea," she said. "We want to play against the best teams and the best players to test ourselves.
"They have players in their squad who were away at the World Cup, so it will be great for some of our younger players to play against girls who are their idols.
"But we cannot be overawed; we have to treat it as we would any other game. Football is a funny old game, so you never know what the result might be.
"We would love to progress if we can because it means more football for us and the competition serves as a chance to play with a bit more freedom.
"We have not been too worried about losing and that mentality has given the girls a chance to show what they can do."
