Millwall boss Harris eyes strong start at Shrewsbury

7 August 2015

Lions manager Neil previews Saturday's season opener against The Shrews

Millwall boss Neil Harris says Saturday's season opener away to Shrewsbury Town is a "real good marker" for his side.

The Shrews go into the game on the back of promotion from League One last season while Millwall, on the other hand, start the new campaign having lost their Championship status at the end of 2014/15.

But Harris believes his rejuvenated squad are a "different animal" to last year and will do whatever it takes to make a strong start.

"I've seen Shrewsbury a couple of times and they are a really good side," Harris said.

"They are well organised, have good experience, some youth and play some good football.

"It's a real tough one to start with. They certainly have momentum going into the start of the season from promotion last year, so it is a real good marker for us.

"But we're a different animal this year. We are the animal that finished last season.

"We want to hit the ground running straight away and we will be doing everything in our power to get the three points on Saturday."
