'This is a great opportunity to reinforce our philosophy, which is a club that promotes equality'
Young people from the Mayflower Federation School and Southwark Park Primary School visited The Den on Monday for a Show Racism the Red Card Event, where they took part in a day of enjoyable and educational activities.
During the morning they experienced some fun football fitness sessions delivered by Millwall for All coaches in the Lions Centre, Art with artist and teacher Colin Yates, plus anti-racism workshops delivered by Show Racism the Red Card. The young people also had the opportunity to develop their footballing skills by undertaking a master class football session delivered by Millwall coaching staff.
In the afternoon they watched Show Racism the Red Card’s latest DVD featuring top footballers and posed questions on racism to a panel of their footballing heroes, including Millwall striker Ricardo Fuller, Millwall Lionesses' skipper Dionne Lennon, Colenzo Jarrett-Thorpe from Unite Trade Union, Labour's Parliamentary candidate for Lewisham Deptford, Vicky Foxcroft, former Charlton player Osei Sankofa plus Show Racism the Red Card education workers.
Marc Elliott, from Millwall For All, said: "Millwall FC were again delighted to host our seventh annual event which provided us with the opportunity to educate young people and highlight the club's anti-racism and discrimination message to the community.
"Hosting events such as this provides us with an opportunity to reinforce our philosophy, which is a club that promotes equality and inclusion for all."
