Martyn Woolford: Stay grounded

1 September 2014

Winger plays down impressive start

"The earlier we can get them on the board, the sooner we can start looking up to the other end of the table.

"We are looking at it one game at a time," said Martyn. "First and foremost it's about making sure that we get enough points to be well away from the relegation zone.

Ian Holloway's men head into the international break sitting in fifth spot, but face testing away trips at Ipswich (13th August) and then Reading (16th) followed by a home game with table-topping Nottingham Forest (20th) when they return to League action.

Millwall winger Martyn Woolford is refusing to get carried away despite a promising start to the season that has seen The Lions take 10 points from the opening five Championship matches.

"It is too early to be saying we're going to be doing this and that, we just need to concentrate and learn from our mistakes - even when we have won a game.

"We need to make sure we pick the bones out of things and keep learning all the time.

"Sometimes it is harder playing the teams that aren't doing great because they have got that fight in them. When teams are at the top and flying they can sometimes get a little bit complacent.

"You see it every week that bottom teams beat top teams. You have to make sure that you are on the ball. The consistency is starting to come for us now which is important, and is something we need to try and take through the season."
