Fisher for a fiver on Non-League Day

5 September 2014

Support Southwark Foodbank too and donate on Sunday

With no Championship matches due to the international games this week, the popular 'Non League Day' returns across the country - and our near neighbours Fisher FC would love to welcome Lions fans to their home game with Woodstock Sports in the FA Vase (1pm).
Supporter-owned Fisher FC are offering 'Football for a Fiver' this Sunday 7th September - with admission just £5 to all fans who support the Southwark Foodbank with donations of spare change or food on the day of the game.

We at Millwall FC are supporters of the Peckham Foodbank and our fans donate every home matchday here at The Den.

Volunteers from the Foodbank will be on-hand at Fisher's Champion Hill ground collecting donations at the gate. All supporters who make a donation, of any amount, will get a £2 discount on Fisher's standard admission prices. This means adults can enjoy the game for just £5, while concessions (including all young people aged 16-21) will see admission prices slashed to just £2.

Fisher chairman Ben Westmancott said: "We have an excellent relationship with Millwall FC who I know have also supported Pecan-Southwark Foodbank with collections at games – and we would love to see Lions fans at our game where they can get behind Bermondsey's non-league side.

"For just a fiver, and a donation of food or spare change to the Pecan Foodbank, all fans will get to see what is set to be a great game of FA Vase football featuring players who are giving their all for their local team.

"Non League Day is a special day every year, as it gives supporters of Premier League and Championship clubs an incentive to visit their local non-league team and enjoy the experience of real grass-roots game. We have cut our admission prices to encourage those fans along, but we also want to use the opportunity to support a fantastic local organisation who provide crucial support to people in need."

The Southwark Foodbank is a Southwark-based service hosted by the Pecan organisation who support vulnerable people and families in the borough. A foodbank is a store where food donated by the community is banked, and can be drawn on by people in crisis.

It is designed to help individuals in need by providing free emergency food for three days, which is the period assessed as the minimum time it takes for the appropriate agencies to be in a position to assist.

The Foodbank completely relies on the public to exist – donations from local businesses, schools, community groups and individuals. Find out more at

Sunday's game takes place at the Champion Hill Stadium, Edgar Kail Way, East Dulwich SE22 8BD. Kick-Off 1pm.
