Ed Upson: Getting better all the time

22 September 2014

Midfielder believes the best is yet to come

Carlos' loss handed midfielder Ed a chance to step off the subs' bench and take his place alongside Shaun Williams in the middle of the park, with Jimmy Abdou dropping back to fill in defence.

It was, however, also a great performance by a Lions team that had to re-shuffle early on when right-back Carlos Edwards was stretchered off with a knee injury.

Saturday's goal-less draw with leaders Nottingham Forest was the first time Stuart Pearce's side had not scored a goal in a competitive game this season.

Ed Upson believes that the best is yet to come from a Millwall side currently sitting 13th in the Championship table.
"It's a shame Carlos got injured for that to happen but, I'll take it as it comes and I really enjoyed it," said Ed. "I thought it was a good team performance against a team pushing for promotion and who are top of the league, it was a good display.

"We have got some good points on the board against some good teams and the feeling in the camp is really positive.

"The gaffer tries to instil really positive vibes within the group, that's something we'll carry through. It will help us through the games, and off the pitch too, we're getting closer as a group."

The Lions head to Huddersfield on Saturday and Ed is optimist that a first win if four games is well within the team's capabilities.

He added: "It's been a good start, there's been ups and downs already as with any season but I think we can look at it in a positive way.

"Wherever we go, we're always looking to win. Huddersfield have their own merits, they do some things well and sometimes you can be in a false position this early on in the season.

"We will take it as it comes and prepare all week for them and we will be pushing for the win."
