Beevers looking to 'put things right'

Defender says squad are working hard to rectify mistakes

Centre-back Mark Beevers believes Millwall need start on the front foot against Birmingham City at The Den tomorrow night (7.45pm).

The Lions are without a win in September after the weekend defeat at Huddersfield but Beevers, who has two goals to his name so far this campaign, says the squad are working hard to cut out some minor mistakes.

"Saturday wasn't a good day for us," Beevers told millwallfc.co.uk. "But in the nine League games we've played, I'd say that we have performed really well in seven of them. Half a game at Ipswich wasn't so good and then on Saturday we didn't perform to our usual levels.

"Other than that, performance-wise it has been a decent start to the season. The past few results haven't been good but I have no doubt that we can put things right at The Den on Tuesday night.

"We just need to keep going and carry on with what we've been doing. But some of the goals we've conceded, away from home especially, need to be rectified. We're working hard at that and those mistakes can be put right by us as players out on the pitch."

Lee Clark's Blues side lost 2-1 to Fulham at the weekend and travel to The Den in 21st - four points worse off than Ian Holloway's Lions.

"Everyone provides a strong test in this division," Beevers said. "Birmingham are slightly below us in the table and will be determined to get some points on the board.

"They have some dangerous players which we will have to keep and eye on but so do we. We will be looking to start on the front foot and hopefully do enough to get the three points."
