Experienced defender fully focused
Defender Danny Shittu has set his sights on a return to the first team fold after overcoming an achilles problem.
The centre-half, 34, picked up the injury in the win over Derby back in March, missing the remainder of the 2013/14 season as a result, but has gradually worked his way back to full fitness since then.
On Monday night Shittu captained the club's U21 side to victory in a League Cup tie with Colchester United, playing the full 120 minutes as The Lions progressed after a penalty shootout, and the Nigerian now feels ready for regular action.
"My aim is to get in the first team," he told Lions Player. "It's been slow and hard with my achilles injury and getting it right.
"The gaffer has been worried about me coming back too early and doing it again after what happened against Derby towards the end of last season.
"I've been working hard, not just outside but in the gym as well to get the achilles right. I'm feeling good and all I can do is be ready for when the gaffer calls me now."
Next up for Millwall is the visit of Wolves, which sees Kenny Jackett return to The Den for the first time since his departure in May 2013.
The former Lions boss twice brought Shittu to the club but the defender insists his team-mate's only focus will be on picking up a win.
"What Kenny did here is amazing," Shittu said. "Kenny and Joe (Gallen) will deserve the applause they get but we will be looking to hopefully try and get them to go away without any points."
