Millwall formally recognise outstanding service of Lions legend
Millwall have formally recognised the outstanding service made by Billy Neil who has devoted 50 years service to The Lions as player, coach and member of the club's backroom staff.
Billy, who celebrates his 70th birthday today, received presents from his colleagues at The Den in the new Billy Neil Sponsors' Lounge at The Den, which was officially opened on Monday afternoon.
Billy's Millwall career began in April 1964 when he was signed as a young winger from Scottish junior club Bonnyrigg Rose, by Billy Gray.
He made his debut the following September against Lincoln City and went on to score 30 goals in 211 senior appearances for The Lions before a knee injury prematurely ended his playing career.
However, Billy remained on the staff at the old Den working in a coaching capacity initially before becoming lotteries, commericial, shop and away travel manager at various times.
He remains on the Millwall staff to this day, running the club's former players' association and working in the commercial department.
