Guard of honour for Headley Court personnel

7 November 2014

Special welcome for Saturday's guests

Millwall and Brentford will hold a unique and moving guard of honour for Headley Court personnel at The Den on Saturday, through which the matchball will be carried to the centre-spot.

The Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre, based in Surrey, has been the beneficiary of funds raised from sales of the one-off camouflage kit that the Millwall players will wear for the visit of Brentford, an initiative sanctioned by The Football League.

After making their way through the guard of honour, and following the preliminary photographs, the Headley Court personnel and both sets of players will form a circle before a period of silence is held ahead of kick-off.

In addition to the on-pitch events, earlier in the day members of the Army Medical Service (AMS) women's football team, along with Millwall Lionesses' players, will conduct a bucket collection around the stadium with proceeds going to Headley Court.

As well, a commemorative 84-page issue of matchday programme The Lion, priced at £4, will see £1 from every copy sold donated to Headley Court. Further details about Saturday's edition of the programme, including a sneak peek at the cover, will be available to read on Thursday.
