Hat-trick for Hockton in charity game
Everyone was a winner as around 500 fans turned out to support Millwall Legends against a London Select XI in a charity match to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK at The Den on Tuesday night.
It was a real trip down memory lane for both supporters and players alike, as numerous former Den favourites pulled on a blue shirt for The Lions - and in Bobby Bowry's case, the orange of London Select too!
Danny Hockton helped himself to a first-half hat-trick and Richard Sadlier bagged the other with a rasping shot into the roof of the net as Millwall raced into a 4-0 lead at the break.
But Omer Riza, player/manager of Cheshunt FC, pulled one back for London Select and a superb curling effort from ex-Lion Barry Hayles further reduced the arrears as the visitors made it 4-2.
A trio of Lions fans - Caley Pratt, Ashleigh Fowles and Tyler Fowles - had all won an auction bid to take part in the game with Caley narrowly missing the opportunity to get on the scoresheet, firing his spot-kick wide of the target after Neil Harris had been fouled in the penalty area.
However, the biggest winner on the night was Prostate Cancer UK, with an estimated £2,000+ raised for the charity.
