Lionesses look to maintain unbeaten league start

The Lionesses travel to Aston Villa this Sunday looking to extend their unbeaten run in the FA WSL 2.

Aston Villa, who have drawn two and lost two in their opening league matches, will want to put on a strong performance and secure their first three points of the campaign.

However Lionesses boss Alberto Kurti has called on his players to start producing 'moments of magic' and turn draws into wins ahead of Sunday's clash.

Millwall have enjoyed a solid start to the FA Women's Super League Two campaign so far, perched just behind pace-setters Doncaster Rovers Belles and Sunderland in third.

Last week's 2-0 victory over Oxford United continued a promising start to the season by Kurti's charges – and he has challenged his side to keep their foot on the pedal.

"We've been disappointed with a couple of the draws that we could have turned into wins," he said, "But we're developing and progressing in the right direction. We are improving and we are also creating chances.

"It's a balanced WSL with a lot of teams who are equally strong so it will just take special, individual moments to turn those draws into wins.

"Villa keep the ball well, they are pacy up front and they will try to cause us problems by applying pressure when we're in possession.

"But we are confident of keeping the ball, matching what they've got and we'll try to finish on a high before the international break."
