Chairman looking forward to new campaign
Immediately the 2013/14 season had reached a satisfactory conclusion for The Lions, the Board of Directors and manager Ian Holloway spent three days in deep discussion mapping out the way forward with a view to Millwall competing in the upper reaches of the Championship next term rather than the lower, as chairman John Berylson explains:
"Having enjoyed a very good couple of days on Saturday and Sunday, celebrating our success in securing our Championship status for a fifth consecutive season, the Board and the manager got down to business on Monday to plan our strategy for the coming campaign.
This proved to be an enjoyable, instructive and uplifting exercise, not least because, in Ian Holloway, we now have a man running our team who has a proven record in producing successful sides at the top end of this Division, and has a clear vision as to how we can give ourselves a fighting chance of emulating the previous clubs he has led to promotion.
There is, of course, no magic formula, and our recent experiences over the past two years should lead us to remain cautionary. But we all share Ollie's enthusiasm for the task, his belief in his methods and his optimism about our chances of improving our results markedly in 2014/15.
It goes without saying that the manager has our full backing in his plan to progress Millwall to the next level, and we are all very much looking forward to some hard work over the coming months and then to the new season in August."
