Sunday special?

26 March 2014

Lionesses target Oxford win

After their 3-2 win against Yeovil Town at the weekend, the Lionesses Development team face Oxford United at home this Sunday, 30th March.

When the two teams met earlier in the season Millwall came out on top with a 3-1 win. Goals from Stevie Lamb and Shauni Griffiths earned Millwall a crucial three points in a tight league and central midfielder Lamb is looking forward to the rematch.

Stevie said: "It's going to be a tough match. Oxford narrowly lost to League leaders Arsenal this weekend and we could be without key players in Emma Plewa and Meghan McKeag, but then Lilli Maple should be back available and she is also a key player for the team."

Oxford United currently sit seventh in the FA. WSL Development League, having won just once this season, against Watford, but Stevie insist that there will be no complacency.

She added: "This is the first Development League season, it's new for everyone. You never know what’s going to happen when you walk out on to the pitch in the game of football. Every team in the league is strong and that shows the progression of the game across the country, having elite players who are still teenagers and still developing, it's very exciting."

The match will be at Beckenham Town FC, Eden Park Avenue, BR3 3JL with a 2pm kick-off. Admission is free and all are welcome.
