Shittu blow

19 March 2014

Danny ruled out for the season

Millwall have been dealt a bitter blow with confirmation that defender Danny Shittu looks set to miss the rest of the season.

Danny sustained an achilles injury during Millwall's excellent 1-0 win at Derby 11 days ago, but physio Bobby Bacic broke the bad news that he will be sidelined until May.

He said: "Danny will effectively be ruled out for the rest of the season. There are only just over six weeks of the season left and by the time Danny is due to recover from his achilles injury he will be short of match fitness.

"He is currently in a protective boot for another three weeks so he is limited in the football specific fitness work he can do, and even when he comes out of the boot he will be doing low level loading for the following two  weeks.

"Nicky Bailey will re-join the training group tomorrow and we will build up his re-integration to this group over the next week. He may also need a reserve match too before being considered for selection.

"Jermaine Easter, who is recovering well from his thigh strain, is the only other injured player who will definitely miss the trip to Leeds. We will assess a few of the other players who have picked up the usual bumps and bruises over the last week tomorrow and hope no-one else will be in the treatment room."
