Leading the way

13 March 2014

Remember your Foodbank items on Saturday

One of the most effective ways the club and most notably, our supporters have helped those in need in our community is by regular donations of food and other essential items to the Peckham Foodbank.

The generosity of Millwall fans is quite remarkable and does not go unnoticed.

The collection point on matchdays at The Den is the blue routemaster bus situated in the car park, where members of the MSC are on hand to receive donations which are then collected for distribution by Peckham Foodbank the following week.

So far your generous support has seen hundreds of kilos of food and toiletries, including nappies, shampoo and toothpaste, donated.

Food banks help people who have lost their jobs, single parents, business owners whose customers aren't paying on time and families where two jobs just aren't enough.

With our biggest crowd of the season expected at The Den on Saturday for the visit of Charlton, it would be great to be able to hand over a record number of items to Peckham Foodbank next week.

This is an initiative in which Millwall are leading the way amongst football clubs and we are looking to encourage others to follow our example.
Items currently needed include nappies, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, tinned meat, UHT milk, sugar, fruit juice (cartons), soup, pasta sauces, sponge pudding (tinned), tomatoes (tinned), cereals, rice pudding (tinned), tea bags/instant coffee, instant mash potato, rice, vegetables (tinned), fruit (tinned), biscuits or snack bars. Items not needed at the moment are baked beans and pasta.
