Support was excellent says Onyedinma
Fred Onyedinma marked his full Championship debut against Charlton by walking away with the Man of the Match award - and now he can't wait to get another taste of senior action.
Midfielder Fred, 17, won fulsome praise from manager Ian Holloway after Saturday's 0-0 draw, describing him as a player 'who has got everything'.
Fred, who made his first appearance for The Lions as a late sub at Southend United in the FA Cup two months ago, was a little less effusive when he spoke to Lions Player after the game.
"It was a really important game and I'm just glad that I did alright," said Fred.
"I want to thank the fans for supporting me and all the players too, who really made me feel welcome and comfortable.
"When I was in the changing room I didn't feel very nervous and when I came out, I was feeling more confident, probably because of the fans. They were great."
Fred, who went agonisingly close to marking his Den debut with an early goal when he headed just wide of the target, added: "It wasn't that far off but I should have scored. Next time I will take my chances."
