Chopper praises young Lions

U21s coach Neil Harris was full of praise for his youngsters after they battled back from a two goal deficit to beat Brentford 3-2 on Tuesday. And more importantly, he sees real positive signs for the future.

Chopper said: "That's the youngest side I've fielded this season and they showed great character and desire to turn that game around after a poor first half.

There were six youth team players in the starting XI and it took them a while to adjust to a slightly different system. But they showed tremendous spirit in the second half and I was extremely proud of them.

I think there are exciting times ahead in terms of our youth development. Everyone connected with our Academy was delighted to see Fred make his full debut on Saturday and with the way he played. There's real encouragement for others to follow in his footsteps.

I genuinely feel there are a number coming through the youth ranks at various levels who can do that, some of whom have already been involved in the first team squad this season and others who are not too far away."
