Ella's Elite experience

26 March 2014

Rutherford chosen for EPC

After being one of the select few chosen for the Elite Player Performance Camp, Girls Centre of Excellence U15s player Ella Rutherford tells us about her latest experiences at the camp.

Ella, who is only 13 years-old, is a first year U15 and has been at Millwall for three years now.  She has excelled under the guidance of Centre of Excellence manager Dan Mliner and Technical Director Les Briley.

Speaking about the gifted youngster Dan said: "Ella's performance at the centre is phenomenal. She has improved in all areas and has experienced technical work this season with the Super League side. It's great that she has been recognised by the EPC."

The Elite Performance Camps (EPC) are set up by the Football Association, which supports elite female footballers at the U15 age group. Players gain access to the EPC through a 'selection day' which is delivered by FA staff and is the next step on the talent pathway for players that show international potential at this level.

Ella said: "I had an amazing weekend. It was great to meet other female footballers from different areas and the coaching from the FA was great. Even at my age I'm committed to achieving my dream and hopefully being an international player. After this weekend, it's starting to feel like a reality."
