Carlos: We can stay up

31 March 2014

Fighting talk from Edwards

Carlos Edwards knows all about relegation scraps having played a big part in helping Sunderland avoid the drop out of the Premier league in 2008.

Edwards, who joined The Lions on loan from Play-Off hopefuls Ipswich last week, made his debut in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers and believes that there is the skill - and most importantly desire - amongst the squad to get out of the bottom three.

"There is no way Millwall should be at the bottom of the Championship with the manager and the quality of players we have," said Carlos.

"Sunderland weren't rock bottom, but we were looking at the gun barrel. We dug deep because once we saw the players who were next to you then you asked, 'Why are we in this situation?'

"Then you say, 'Why are you not pulling your finger out?' The lads looked at themselves in the mirror and a few harsh words were said. But it was constructive criticism and we survived."
