Tim reflects on record breaking Den returnTim Cahill was overcome with pride after marking his return to The Den with a brace - breaking Australia's all-time goalscoring record in the process.
The midfielder hit two trademark headers in the first-half of last night's 4-3 defeat to Ecuador, the first of which was his 30th for The Socceroos, taking him above Damian Mori as his country's leading goalscorer at international level.
"It's a dream come true," The 34-year-old said afterwards. "To play for your country is one thing, but to go on and break that record is another. I want to achieve more and carry on scoring goals for The Socceroos. It was a proud moment for me, the Australians and my family."
And on playing back at The Den, Cahill added: "It was an amazing feeling and funny that I could have one of the best moments of my career back at the place where it all started. I've got a lot of great memories and it was brilliant to see a load of familiar faces who were here when I first arrived. I'm thankful that I got this opportunity as this is the kind of thing that you play football for."
