Trialists handed opportunity at Billericay

25 July 2014

Six new faces set to start pre-season friendly

Millwall U21s are set to include six young trialists in a youthful-looking team for Saturday's pre-season friendly at Billericay Town (11am).

Jeremy Walker, Ollie Lee, Smith Tiesse, Laste Dombaxe, Greg Luer and Jack Jeffery are all named in the travelling squad to face an experienced Essex side who held Conference outfit Eastleigh to a 0-0 draw on Tuesday night.

Coach Neil Harris said: "We've got some boys here who have come in to try and show us their attributes, to impress us and possibly earn a contract.

"Jeremy has come over from Australia and played for Melbourne in the 'A' League while Ollie is here having been in America. Smith was YT at Leeds and Jack was YT at Reading too - they are both local lads as well.

"Laste played for the U21s at Faversham two weeks ago and was in the youth team at Tottenham last season, while Burgess Hill have kindly let us have a look at Greg, who is a winger.

"I can't speak highly enough of all the boys here though. They have worked extremely hard; they came back early to be ready, to get fit and impress the manager. They have done a lot of sessions and I think the boys, as well as me, just want to play matches now.

"They work 9-5 at the training ground, but that is their base work for matches and Saturday's game at Billericay is going to provide them with good, strong non-league opposition.

"In the game at Bromley last weekend we came up against a team who fielded a lot of players with Football League experience and that is likely to be the case at Billericay. It's a good standard game for us and a great test for the players."

Lions fans attending tomorrow's game at Blunts Wall Road are kindly reminded that kick-off is now 11am, having been brought forward from 3pm.

Likely line-up: Denzel Gerrar, Jeremy Walker, Sid Nelson, Ollie Lee, Smith Tiesse, Keaton Wood, Laste Dombaxe, Jamie Philpot, Greg Luer, Aiden O'Brien, Jack Jeffrey. Subs: Kris Twardek, Kieren Farrell, Callum Webb.
