Lions recruit Dons utility man

Millwall are set to complete formalities on a deal to bring Shaun Williams to The Den on a two-and-a-half year contract from MK Dons for an undisclosed fee.

The Dublin-born 27-year-old, who is capable of playing in central defence and midfield, is MK Dons' current Player of the Year, and has made 33 appearances for Karl Robinson's side so far this term, scoring 10 goals.

The former Republic of Ireland U23 international moved to MK Dons from Irish side Sporting Fingal in February 2011, where he made his European debut in a Europa League Second Qualifying Round tie against Maritimo.

Shaun was voted Professional Footballers' Association of Ireland Young Player of the Year, and was nominated for the senior award in 2010.

Since joining in 2011, Shaun has made 137 appearances for MK Dons, featuring mostly at centre-half but also impressing in defensive and attacking roles in midfield. He becomes Ian Holloway's third signing of this transfer window after Ryan Fredericks and DJ Campbell, and will hope to be in contention for Tuesday night's visit of Sheffield Wednesday.
