Back to the classroom for Lions stars

The Millwall players have been spending time in the classroom as well as on the training pitches during their mid-season trip to the Algarve.

Boss Ian Holloway says there is a lot of learning to be done in a very short time so they have to make every waking moment count.

"Ideally we would be doing a lot of this work during six or seven weeks during pre-season, but we don't have that opportunity at the moment so we have to do as much as we can in six days.

The players have been doing three sessions a day, two on the training ground and one in the classroom. What they have to learn is my theories, my philosophies and my regime.

I have been delighted with the response I've had. I want them to understand what I expect from them as a manager, and clearly they are getting the message.

The people who run the place here have told me that ours is the best behaved group they've hosted which is what I like to hear."
