Birch backs boss for Lions revival

Marc Bircham tells Lions fans the club could be in no better hands following the appointment of Ian Holloway as manager.

Ollie has now moved to bring Birch in as first team coach alongside Des Bullpin to complete his backroom staff and the former Millwall midfielder is delighted to be back.

He said: "I had a great job at QPR and there are only two reasons why I would give that up, Millwall and Ian Holloway.

This is a tremendous opportunity for me and a very exciting time for the club. There's a lot of hard work to be done, but Ollie is a great manager and I just couldn't turn down the chance to work with him again."

Birch is also thrilled to be linking up with Neil Harris, who reverts to Under 21s coach with the arrival of Des and himself.

"Chopper is still one of my best mates and we talk about football all the time. Having been coaching for six months or so, he knows he's got a lot to learn, and I told him on the day Ollie got the Millwall job that there is no-one better to learn from than the new gaffer.

I'm sure we will all benefit from each other's skills and experience, and hopefully we can get the team moving in the right direction too. I can't wait to start!
