Bircham's back

15 January 2014

Marc returns to Millwall as part of Ollie's backroom team

Marc Bircham has re-joined Millwall as first team coach under new boss Ian Holloway.

He moves back to The Den from QPR - where has worked in the Loftus Road club's Academy set-up since the 2009/10 season - to link up with Olllie, a man who managed him at Rangers between 2002 and 2006 when Marc was a player there.

The 35-year-old began his career at Millwall, working his way up through the youth ranks before making his first team debut in a 3-2 win over Preston North End at The Den in January 1997, then aged just 18.

He remained at The Den until 2002, and after 121 appearances for The Lions, moved to Loftus Road where he enjoyed a successful five-year spell before ending his career at Yeovil Town.

Joining Marc as part of Ollie's new backroom team is Des Bulpin, who has agreed to join The Lions from Crystal Palace where he has been coaching The Eagles' U18 side since last summer.

The 62-year-old has a proven track record of identifying young talent, and has worked with Ollie at QPR, Plymouth Argyle, Leicester City and last season at Selhurst Park.

The Scottish coach also has experience in international football and has held positions with Singapore, Uzbekistan, India's U21 side and the Philippines, whom he managed between 2009 and 2010.
