Beevers expects tough tie

3 January 2014

Lions not taking anything for granted, says defender

Millwall centre-back Mark Beevers says he and his team-mates are expecting a game as difficult as any other against Southend United in the FA Cup on Saturday (3pm).

The Lions are looking for what would be just their second away win of the season against Phil Brown's Shrimpers, and Beevers insists the players will not be taking anything for granted at Roots Hall against the League Two side.

"It's certainly not a game that we're going to coast through," he said. "We are fully expecting a very tough match and are preparing for it like we do any other.

"Like we always do, we will look at Southend's strengths and weaknesses on DVD and try to exploit any of the latter.

"Everybody will expect us to go there and win, purely because we're in the Championship and they are in League Two, but the FA Cup always springs lots of surprises.

"In the Football League anybody can beat anybody on their day, so we are going to have to be on our game because they will be up for it."
