Players visit children's wards at Lewisham HospitalMillwall's players took time out from their training schedule to bring a little festive cheer on their annual visit to the children's wards at Lewisham Hospital earlier this week.
Staff, players, patients and parents alike all got into the spirit of things - and Alan Dunne, a fantastic ambassador over the years for Millwall, was delighted to be part of Monday's visit.
"It's amazing how quickly a year goes by and we're back here again" Dunney told Lions Player. "As footballers we don't do enough with hospital visits. I know it is once a year at Christmas but we should do more and put a smile on kids' faces. It is always a pleasure to come and do our little bit. We are very fortunate, but some kids aren't, and are going to have to spend Christmas in hospital."
Dunney also had a special word of praise for the staff, adding: "The nurses are fantastic and do a great job. If it wasn't for them the patients wouldn't be getting looked after so well. It's nice to come and see them, talk to them and share what Millwall is all about, which is about being passionate with good working people. Hopefully they all enjoyed the visit as much as we did."
