Foodbank needs more supplies
Winter is well and truly here and with it comes Christmas - but not a lot of cheer if you are living on the breadline.
Millwall FC have been working closely with the Peckham Foodbank over the past couple of years with thousands of tins of non-perishable food kindly donated by the Club's playing staff and supporters during this period.
The Peckham Foodbank helps meet the increasing need for emergency food in the local area. Tonight, and every other home game at The Den for the remainder of the season, will again see the Peckham Foodbank collecting by the Blue Bus before kick-off.
Peckham Foodbank, which is hosted by the Southwark based charity Pecan, has seen a sharp increase in numbers of families turning to them for help, and winter is the busiest time of year for foodbanks as the finances of people on the breadline are further stretched by the additional cost of heating.
If you can help bring some Christmas cheer to help those less fortunate then please bring along a spare tin or two of the following - it would be most gratefully received: Chocolate, Tinned meat, UHT Milk, Sugar (500g), Fruit Juice (carton), Soup, Pasta Sauces, Sponge Pudding (tinned), Tomatoes (tinned), Cereals , Rice Pudding (tinned), Tea Bags/Instant Coffee, Instant Mash Potato, Rice, Vegetables (tinned), Fruit (tinned), Biscuits or Snack Bars.
