Angel eyes improvement

17 December 2014

Spaniard looking for more opportunities to impress at The Den

Millwall midfielder Angel says his debut in last week's win over Brighton is just the 'first step' of his career at the club.

Having left Blackpool last summer, the 28-year-old joined Millwall back in September but has seen his progress hampered by a calf injury. Now, though, the Spaniard is fully fit and hopes to show Lions fans what he is capable of over the coming weeks and months.

"As a football player I feel useful again," Angel says in Friday's edition of matchday programme The Lion.

"I came here really excited to play as soon as possible so to get an injury was so sad for me and my family. It was so difficult, but in your mind you have to stay calm and keep working hard all the time.

"Playing against Brighton is just the first step for me. It was the first time I have played with people like Scott McDonald and Willo (Shaun Williams). I didn't have the chance for pre-season games so I need the chance for some adaptation to get more confidence.

"It is not easy to play your first game in December and I am going to have to improve and grow. Personally it wasn't my best game, but I think I will adapt more and get better every day. I just felt really happy that I could help the team to win."

Read much more from Angel in a feature length interview in Friday's edition of The Lion, available to buy around the ground on matchday for just £3.
