Williams: Everyone is gelling well together

1 August 2014

Hard work paying off says midfielder Shaun

Shaun Williams will be getting more useful match minutes under his belt tonight when Millwall host Real Mallorca - and The Lions midfielder can't wait to play in front of The Den faithful again.

The last time Ian Holloway's men were in match action was on the final day of the 2013/14 campaign when Martyn Woolford's first-half goal secured a 1-0 win against AFC Bournemouth that ensured Championship survival for a fifth consecutive year.

Admittedly the atmosphere for the visit of Segunda Division side Real Mallorca is not going to reach the intensity of that Bournemouth game, but Shaun hopes that the performance is a positive one as The Lions head into the final week of pre-season.

"Last season was a difficult time for everyone at the club," Shaun told Lions Player. "There were a lot of downs, but towards the end luckily we pulled through.

"It feels like a longer pre-season than usual; we were back quite early so it's been one of the toughest I've done, but I have really enjoyed it.

"Since we've come back everyone has looked sharp and is gelling well together. The new additions have been ideal and I think that this season we can push on."
