Manager praises players after Beevers and Williams goals secure opening day victory
Millwall boss Ian Holloway said he was proud of his players after watching them earn a 2-0 opening day victory over Leeds United at The Den.
Mark Beevers met a Lee Martin cross to slide the ball home in the eighth minute before Irishman Shaun Williams confirmed the win with a late penalty and Ollie, speaking moments after the final whistle, was delighted with the performance.
"It was a fantastic day all round," he said. "It was a big day for Millwall and I'm so proud of the club and the players, who were all delighted in the dressing room.
"They kept going and going and that helped to create an electric atmosphere.
"It caps a great pre-season for us. The lads have been working their socks off and that showed. We played well and Leeds played well, but we managed to win.
"The second goal was going to be vital and they could have got one when we got a couple bits wrong. Thankfully we managed to keep going and get the 2-0 win.
"Now I can look at Tuesday (against Wycombe) and I'll probably make a few changes to give the lads who have worked as hard as the others a chance."
