New Millwall skipper Dunne looks to Leeds

8 August 2014

Defender says home crowd can play their part

New first team captain Alan Dunne believes Millwall's home support could prove pivotal if The Lions are to begin the 2014/15 season with a win against Leeds United at The Den on Saturday.

Boss Ian Holloway confirmed that he had selected the 31-year-old as his new skipper for 2014/15 at Thursday night's Fans Forum and Dunne, speaking in his new matchday programme column, can't wait for the action to get underway.

"Everyone wants to get off to a winning start and they (Leeds) will be no different to us in that respect," he says.

"The atmosphere against Bournemouth (on the final day of last season) was just fantastic - and everything that happened on that day is what we need at our home games all the time.

"It felt like the old Millwall to me; the way we handled ourselves and how fantastically you got behind the team. We really hope to be taking that into the Leeds match."

He adds: "We all win together, we all lose together. We will give our all out there on the pitch and look forward to getting the season up and running."
