Coach McAvoy hails the 'excellence' of his young team
Millwall's U16s reigned supreme to win the third Mayo International Cup with an excellent 2-0 victory against Republic of Ireland U16s in Sunday's Final at Milebush Park.
The tournament was held in County Mayo over three days with the young Lions joining Chesterfield, the Republic of Ireland Development squad, Glentoran, Catlebar FAI Regional Centre U16s squad and the Northern Ireland U16s development squad.
Larry McAvoy's charges were named in Group 2 along with Northern Ireland and Castlebar. Goals from Noel Leighton, Tanito Olaofe and Delayne Simpson sealed a 3-0 win against Ireland with Mason Saunders on the score-sheet in a 1-1 draw with Castlebar.

The icing on the cake came afterwards when Mason Saunders beat over 100 players to be named Player of the Tournament after spectators, officials and managers voted.
Matt Day and Noel Leighton scored a goal each to secure a super victory against the Republic of Ireland.
