Mark Beevers: Keep it going

18 August 2014

Defender aims to maintain unbeaten run

Mark Beevers heads back to his former club Sheffield Wednesday with Millwall on Tuesday night aiming to maintain The Lions' 100 per cent winning start to the new season.

Victories against Leeds United (2-0) and Fulham (1-0) in the Championship have taken Ian Holloway's side joint top of the table, with a 1-0 victory against Wycombe also booking The Lions a Capital One Cup Second Round home tie against Southampton.

How different it is to last season, when it took four games before Millwall picked up their first point of the campaign, ironically at Hillsborough.

"We didn't have a particularly great start and weren't playing especially well either," said defender Mark. "We got a 2-2 draw and our first point of the season up there, but we are a different team now.

"Sheffield have strengthened their squad in the summer, but so have we, and there is no reason why we can't carry on our good form. If you look at the table this season there really is no easy game. Every team is quite capable of winning and I can't see any team not picking up points.

"But we are on a good run going back to the end of last season when we achieved the 'Great Escape', we are organised and looking forward to going to Hillsborough and trying to keep the momentum going."
