Chopper: Welcome aboard Sofiane

Harris looks forward to working with new-signing El Bekri

Neil Harris has spoken of his delight that gifted 18-year-old midfielder Sofiane El Bekri has this evening penned a one-year contract with Millwall.

The former RC Lens teenager has spent last past month training with the U21s, and coach Chopper is looking forward to working further with the young Frenchman.

"We're delighted to give this young man an opportunity to showcase his skills in this country," he said. "Technically, Sofi is a tremendous footballer and although it may take him a little time to adjust to the English game, his touch, technique and awareness of play around him is first class."

"He was brought to our attention by one of our guys scouting abroad. We got him over to have a look and Sofi has a great desire to want to impress and forge a career in the game.

"He has had a good upbringing and learnt the technical side very well. I feel the way we play under Ollie will benefit him and us if he keeps on developing in the way he has.

"Sofi is a smashing young man and although it is going to be a new experience for him living in a different country, we have got a super bunch of lads here and staff who will help him out.

"Scott Fitzgerald, Dave Livermore and Justin Skinner have encouraged and instilled in our young players just how important it is to help each other and look out for each other, and that's what we will be doing."
