Lionesses to face Chelsea

1 April 2014

Pre-season preparations hotting up

Millwall Lionesses get the chance to test themselves against top flight opposition when they play Chelsea Ladies this Thursday at Beckenham Town FC in a pre-season friendly.

With the FA WSL season opener against Watford just over two weeks away, facing WSL 1 side Chelsea will be the perfect test of Millwall's pre-season preparations.

The two sides met earlier in the season, when Chelsea ran out 2-0 winners with goals from Eniola Aluko and Yuki Ogimi, and Alberto Kurti's side will be looking to better that result this week.

Since their first meeting, Millwall have added Lily Agg, from London Bees, to the squad, and with key players Kylie Davies and Lillie Bilson available, the Lionesses will want to make a big impression on the West London club.

The friendly will also be a warm-up for when the teams face each other at Staines FC on May 14th in the Continental Cup competition.

Speaking about their opponents boss Alberto Kurti said: "Chelsea have a fantastic set up, and team full of England Internationals, Olympians and World Cup winners. It's going to be more than the average game! But the Lionesses are battlers and we always will be, so we won't make it easy for them."

The match will be played this Thursday, 3rd April, with a 7.45pm kick-off. Tickets are available on the gate priced at £2 adults, while U16s go free.
