It's the big FA WSL kick-off
Millwall Lionesses make their FA WSL debut tonight when they kick-off the new campaign at Watford FC - and the game can't come quick enough for manager Alberto Kurti. "They have a squad full of experience, especially with striker Sarah Wiltshire who over the years has proven her qualities; we will have to make sure she doesn't get any space or time.
We are really looking forward to the first game of the season," he enthused. "Watford are a good side with some fantastic players.
"On the plus side we have Welsh International Kylie Davies and Irish International Sophie Perry back in defence, while our strike force had a fantastic final pre-season game on Sunday.
Meghan McKeag took a knock on Sunday in our last pre-season friendly, while Emma Plewa will need to undergo fitness tests to see if she will be available. "Overall this is a great opportunity for us to test ourselves and assess how far we have come as a team. This is a long season, full of exciting fixtures and a bit of the unknown, we just need to be sure we compete and do what we do best, which is dig deep and fight for the win."
If you look at it player for player, we are the underdogs and we are new side, Watford had a fantastic season last year finishing second in the Women's National Premier League.
