Marathon Man on a mission

12 September 2013

Ian fund-raising for the Finlay Cooper Fund

Millwall supporter Ian Toal is a Marathon Man on a mission!

Ian will be running the Great North Run Half Marathon this Sunday 15th September and then a fortnight later undertakes the Loch Ness Marathon (29th Sept) and would really appreciate your sponsorship for a great Millwall-connected charity.

He secured a place for the Great North Run from a small charity he has been involved with since its inception in 2006, The Finlay Cooper Fund.

Ian explains: "The Finlay Cooper Fund is a very small charity that raises money to then pass onto good causes that are related to children. The charity was set up by former England, Millwall, Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough defender Colin Cooper and his wife Julie in memory of their son Finlay who died in a tragic choking accident when he was just a toddler in 2002. Colin and Julie are such a nice couple, that really appreciate everything Millwal supporters have done for the charity and the support people have given them right from that tragic event back in 2002.

As it is a small charity any amount of donation will be very welcome and goes directly to good causes. One recent example is a specialist bed that was purchased by the donation from the charity to Demelza House Childrens Hospice.

Every pound will count for this charity so anything you can give, no matter how small will be highly appreciated. You won't be sponsoring me just for the events either, but the 500 miles or so training I will have clocked up come race time since I got back to running in early June!"
