Help those heroes

25 September 2013

Gibbo and co. collecting on Saturday

A group of dedicated volunteers will be The Den on Saturday to collect for the charity "Help for Heroes".

The team is led by a Royal Navy Chief Petty Andy 'Gibbo' Gibbs assisted by his wingman James 'JC' Cameron-Wood, Penny Harris and Des Wade.

Gibbbo says: "We raise funds in support of H4H through bucket collections at high-profile sporting events throughout London, the South of England and Wales. In addition, annually we try to do at least one major charity walk to help raise the profile of the Charity with collections at sports clubs and pubs en route.
Our last event in March entailed us carrying the match ball that kicked off the RBS Six Nations Wales v England match from Twickenham to Cardiff raising over £10,000 along the way."

To date this year Gibbo and his team have raised over £86,000 from collecting at sports grounds and concerts. In January Gibbo and his team were here when we played Preston North End in the FA Cup raising that day £1,622 for this worthy charity. The team thanked the club by presenting Lions Chairman John Berylson with a certificate of appreciation.
This figure added to the previous three years gives the team a grand total to date of £273,000 for the Charity, and are pushing on hard to reach our target of a £300,000.

Millwall would be a great place to pass the £275,000 milestone.
