Lionesses roar to thumping win

The Millwall Lionesses development squad were in action on Sunday and handed out a 7-0 thumping to Yeovil at Beckenham Town FC.

Millwall started on the front foot and were a goal to the good after just 60 seconds when some great combination play created an opening for Nicole Pepper, who kept her cool to put the home team 1-0 ahead with a precision finish.

That early goal really settled the nerves and The Lionesses didn't look back as their play oozed confidence thereafter.

Ciara Sherwood was in great form and bagged an excellent hat-trick whilst two goals from striker Emma Plewa and another goal from left-back Meghan Mckeag completed the rout as The Lionesses proved unstoppable going forward.

Credit to Yeovil though, who tried their hardest to put pressure on the home defence, but found Millwall in resilient form and simply too good on the day.

Team: Francesca Gibbs, Chantelle Mackie, Sarah Jones, Maeghan Mckeagh, Lilly Maple, Ciara Sherwood, Nicole Pepper (Georgia Miller, 70mins), Emma Plewa (Emma Sherwood, 65mins), Shauni Grifiths (Francesca Strugnelll, 50mins) Subs not used: Leane Cowen, Christina Douglas.

Lionesses next game is this Sunday against Watford's Development Squad in the League Cup. Kick-Off at Beckenham Town FC is 2pm with entry priced at £3 per person. U16s get in for free.
