Steve calls on defensive soliditySteve Lomas says his side have been working hard on tightening up at the back ahead of Saturday's trip to the Reebok Stadium to face Bolton Wanderers.
The Lions have conceded 14 goals in their last five games, but have also been scoring freely at the other end, picking up good draws against promotion hopefuls QPR, Reading and Burnley in recent weeks. And Lomas, speaking to Lions Player, says his men must find a suitable balance between attack and defence over the remainder of the season.
"We've had three very good performances, but that being said we would have liked a few more points," he said.
"It's going to be a tough game as Bolton are in decent form and picked up a good win at Bournemouth last weekend. They will be on their game so we have to put on a similar performance (to last week) and hopefully keep a clean sheet."
Shaun Derry's departure from The Den to take over as Notts County boss this week has left The Lions a man shorter in midfield, but Lomas can once again call upon Jimmy Abdou after suspension and Richard Chaplow, who is fit against after injury.
"We wish Shaun all the best. He's a fantastic professional and trained every day he was here, so you can see why he has lasted so long in the game.
"We're losing people and then getting others back so it's been difficult to find that continuity. That being said we have got to get on with it because there's no point moaning."
