Fellow fan comes to Albert's aid

Lions season ticket holder Albert Woller had reason to be grateful to fellow Lions fan Jamie Howlett when he collapsed at the QPR match here at The Den on 19th October with a slow heartbeat.

Jamie's knowledge of first aid proved invaluable as he tended to Albert until the medical team were able to take over.

Events then took a dramatic turn when the Air Ambulance arrived on the scene, but fortunately Albert's condition didn't prove to be too serious, and although he had a brief spell in Kings College hospital, he was soon discharged and continues to recuperate at home.

The medical team who are at The Den every matchday ready to respond to incidents such as this include volunteers from St John Ambulance, who also run first aid courses which anyone can attend.

So, if this story has prompted you to want to be clued up in basic first aid as Jamie was, contact your local St John Ambulance for details about how you can get on a basic first aid course, visit or find St John Ambulance members here at The Den on matchdays.
