Lionesses swoop to sign two
Millwall Lionesses are delighted to announce two new signings with Naomi Cole and Leeta Rutherford both joining the first team Women's Super League programme in 2014, although the duo will continue playing for their FAWPL sides Lewes FC and Portsmouth LFC respectively until the New Year.
Defender Naomi, who has also previously played for Chelsea Ladies said: "I'm really excited to have signed for Millwall, I enjoyed my previous time here and believe the club can assert itself well in the WSL for next season. There is a great bunch of players and I wanted to be a part of it.
My ambition is to help make the club a top WSL team and in time progress into the top League. I personally want to continue to develop my game and stay in contention for international call-ups."
Fellow signing Leeta added: "After a couple of sessions training with Millwall it was a easy decision to sign for the club. The Lionesses are a very ambitious, organised and professional club.
I'm excited for this coming season, my expectations for the club are extremely high, with the managment and players in place. I want the club to be in the top two of the League and hope to play a massive part in helping that happen."
Lionesses manager Alberto Kurti said: "I am very happy that both of the players have agreed to join Millwall for the season ahead. Their qualities and experience will add strength to the squad.
We have a very talented young squad and with both of these players coming in, it can only make us stronger."
